Is there anybody who can assist me in filling out the application forms for my Arkansas VA Benefits?

An agent who is accredited by the VA, or a service organization such as your State Veterans Office, your local VFW, or American Legion may help you. Nobody may charge you for helping you with the preparation or presentation of your VA Benefits application forms, but you should be sure that the person who is assisting you does understand VA Benefits, including national and state laws pertaining to the VA Benefits.

 

Why should I have an attorney assist me with filling out my Arkansas VA Benefits application? Are there advantages or disadvantages to seeking help from an attorney during my VA Benefits application process?

There are many reasons that veterans seek assistance from an attorney when they are filling out their application for Arkansas VA Benefits. Once your application is turned in to the Arkansas VA, it takes an average of five to eight months to get your first VA Benefits check, if you are approved for Arkansas VA Benefits. If you have dementia or other memory loss issues, the VA will insist on meeting you and your representative before sending you your first Arkansas VA Benefits check. This can delay your first VA Benefits check for an additional four to six months, on average.

 

Will I receive my VA Benefits check directly, or will the check be sent to the assisted living facility?

Your Arkansas VA Benefits check will be sent directly to the claimant. VA Benefits will not be sent to any facility, only to the claimant.

 

Can I have my VA Benefits directly deposited into my bank account or do I have to receive a paper check for my VA Benefits.

Yes, you can have your VA Benefits directly deposited into your bank account, this is actually the method that the VA prefers for paying benefits. If you have any memory loss issues, the VA will insist that you have your benefits directly deposited into your bank account.

 

Will my Arkansas VA Benefits be retroactive back to the day that I submit my application for the VA Benefits, or do my benefits start on the day/month that I get approved for the Arkansas VA Benefits.

Arkansas VA Benefits are retroactive from the first day of the next month after the VA Receives your application for Arkansas VA Benefits, OR your first notice of intent to file for VA Benefits. Therefore, if the VA receives your application in February, and you are approved for VA Benefits, then your VA Benefits will be retroactive from the first day of March.

 

A VA Accredited attorney can help you preserve this informal award date. In for your Arkansas VA Benefits to be retroactive, you must live through th eentire month after the VA receives your first informal request or application, whichever is received first. In addition, if you are filing an informal request for VA benefits, you must be alive when the rest of the application is submitted. After you have submitted your informal request for benefits, you have one year from the date of the informal request for VA benefits to complete and submit the rest of your benefits application to the VA.
